Jane Tilka, Founder

Jane Tilka is a designer, consultant, and strategist who sees opportunity where business and beauty intersect. For three decades, Jane has guided clients through a process that reveals, develops, and manages brand potential. She began her career as a graphic designer and founded Tilka Design in 1983.

In the mid 80s, she co-founded the nationally-franchised Sox Appeal stores and created greeting cards for Recycled Paper Products including a line she illustrated. This work led Tilka Design to develop licensed retail products for a variety of companies.

Throughout Tilka Design's history, Jane has mentored and trained many young designers to apply design thinking to organizational and business strategy. Her interests have always centered on beautifully executed, concept-driven ideas that are stylistically enduring. Additionally, she continues to study and explore the social science aspects of what makes a design effective and engaging to defined audiences.

A graduate of The College of St. Catherine, Jane is a lover of lifelong learning and has completed executive coursework at Harvard Business School, attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, The American Academy of Art, Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the School of Visual Arts. She is a Minnesota-founding member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and is committed to involvement within her profession. She has served as board member of the Jungle Theater, Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony. She has also served as a member of the design advisory group at the College of Visual Arts, and the committee for corporate fundraising for the new central library in Minneapolis. Jane currently serves on the advisory board at the Weisman Art Museum.
